Heavy Metal, INQB8 Contempory Art Space, Mandurah
I was invited by the City of Mandurah to host their first solo show in the new contemporary art space, just recently completed in May, 2011 which was such an honour for me. I was delighted by the fact that my art practice was recognised by the City and the community. After discovering a rusty, old washing machine and a deteriorated car bonnet in one of my bush walks, I began placing fragments of the rusty metal into my artwork. The rich colours of rust produced by the deterioration process I found to be quite delightful. The curator and I decided upon the title ‘Heavy Metal’ for the show.
